Singapore, 19 September, 2018 – ROSATOM, through its subsidiary, Rusatom Healthcare, and Australian Securities Exchange-listed Asian American Medical Group (“AAMG”) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (“MoU”) today to develop a Nuclear Medical Centre in Johor Bahru in Malaysia, bordering Singapore.
Russia and Uzbekistan have signed a cooperation agreement to build a nuclear power plant in the republic. The signing ceremony was held after the negotiations of the prime ministers of Russia and Uzbekistan. The documents were signed by Head of the Cabinet of Russia Dmitry Medvedev and Head of the Government of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov.
Rosatom Southeast Asia and Institute of Technology of Cambodia (ITC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding today pursuant of the Intergovernmental Agreement on cooperation in nuclear energy use for peaceful purposes, signed between Russia and Cambodia last year. Institute of Technology of Cambodia will provide a basis on which to develop the Information Center for Atomic Energy in this country.
The installation of the device for catching the molten core material ("core catcher") has commenced at the construction site of power unit No 1 of Roopur NPP. “This is a unique protection system of the NPP and the first large-size equipment that is being installed in the reactor building. Its weight is about 200 tons. According to the schedule, the installation will be completed in 6 months”, said Alexander Khazin, senior vice-president for overseas projects.

The Finland-based company Fennovoima Oy has recently sent its instructors to visit the Training Center of the Leningrad NPP, to learn about the training procedure in place for the operations personnel working at their new VVER-1200 reactors. “We talked about how the Training Center was structured, how much theoretical and practical information the training encompassed, about the facilities and resources utilized by the Center etc.,” said Vaclav Vejborny, Instructor at Fennovoima Oy.
The South African Nuclear Energy Corporation (NECSA) and Rusatom Healthcare, the healthcare division of ROSATOM, today signed an agreement on cooperation in the sphere of non-power related uses of nuclear technology on the sidelines of BRICS Summit. The agreement aims to explore the full potential of deepening mutually beneficial cooperation in the sphere of innovation and technological development related to peaceful uses of nuclear energy.
On July 08, 2018 the Bangladesh Atomic Energy Regulatory Authority (BAERA) granted a license for design and construction of Rooppur NPP power unit No 2 constructed under the Russian design to the Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission (BAEC). The document confirms the safety and gives a permission to commence the construction of the second power unit.
ROSATOM plans shortly to conclude contracts with new countries for construction of NPPs abroad. At the present time, ROSATOM has 67% of the world nuclear plant construction market, as head of the state-owned corporation Alexei Likhachev reported to Russia’s Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev. He said that at the present time the orders portfolio exceeded US $133 billion.
ROSATOM and the Ministry of Infrastructure of the Republic of Rwanda signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the field of peaceful uses of atomic energy. On the Russian side, the document signed Rosatom Deputy Director General – Director of International Affairs Department Nikolay Spasskiy, and on the Rwandan side — Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Rwanda to the Russian Federation Jeanne d'Arc Mujawamariya.
