Nuclear for better life
The first large-sized cargo for the Unit 1 – the core catcher – has been delivered at the Akkuyu NPP construction site. This equipment, which shall be installed under the nuclear reactor pressure vessel, is a cone-shaped tank weighing 150 tons made of high-temperature steel.
The 23rd Session of Chinese-Russian Nuclear Subcommittee took place in Nizhny Novgorod on 19 July within the framework of the Committee on preparation of regular China-Russia summits. Zhang Kejian, Chairman of the China Atomic Energy Authority, and Aleksey Likhachev, ROSATOM Director General, are the Committee Cochairmen.
Moscow, 11 July – ROSATOM and the Ministry of Energies of the Plurinational State of Bolivia signed a Memorandum of cooperation in the field of developing industrial projects and research in the lithium industry.
The Ministry of Energy and Mines of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic (Lao PDR) and ROSATOM signed two memorandum of understanding. The first document defines the areas of cooperation in education and personnel training, while the second one establishes the approaches to forming public opinion on peaceful use of atomic energy in Lao PDR.
TVEL Fuel Company of ROSATOM and Czech research center Řež (Centrum výzkumu Řež s.r.o.; CVŘ) have signed an agreement on cooperation in materials science studies and research.
TVEL JSC and Haykakan Atomayin Electrakayan CJSC (Armenian NPP) have signed contractual documents for supplies of Russian nuclear fuel in 2019 – 2020.
On June 20, a solemn ceremony was held at the construction base of hungarian Paks-2 NPP (General Contractor JSC ASE, Engineering division of ROSATOM) dedicated to the beginning of the erecting first buildings of the construction base.
During the 6th session of the Russian-Saudi Arabian intergovernmental commission on trade, economic, scientific and technological cooperation, Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak confirmed Russia’s plans to develop active partnership with Saudi Arabia in the peaceful use of nuclear technologies and announced the opening of a Rusatom Overseas branch in Riyadh.
During the visit of Prime Minister of Slovakia Peter Pellegrini to Moscow, a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes was signed between ROSATOM and Ministry of Economy of the Slovak Republic.
5th June 2019, Moscow – A general contract for Russian-designed power units No. 3 and No. 4 construction with VVER-1200 reactors at Xudapu nuclear power plant was signed on June 5 in Moscow in presence of heads of Russia and China.
